Course Description

This course explores the profound ways in which nutrition influences health, disease prevention, and longevity. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of how dietary patterns, targeted nutritional interventions, fasting strategies, and gut microbiome balance impact human physiology and clinical outcomes.

Faculty experts will review the latest scientific evidence on nutrition and metabolism, examine the therapeutic potential of fasting and time-restricted eating, and evaluate the role of specific diets in managing chronic disease. Special emphasis will be placed on the gut microbiome—its influence on systemic health, immune function, and inflammation—and how dietary choices can optimize or disrupt gut balance.

By the end of this course, clinicians will be able to:

  • Assess evidence-based dietary strategies for improving patient outcomes.
  • Discuss the mechanisms and clinical applications of fasting and dietary restriction.
  • Evaluate the role of the gut microbiome in health and disease.
  • Integrate practical nutritional guidance into individualized patient care.

This session is designed for healthcare providers seeking to expand their expertise in nutrition science and apply practical, clinically relevant tools to support optimal health.  This combined with the full curriculum in the Optimal Medicine Series equips providers with root cause approaches to maximize health for your patients.
