Micah Olson, MD, founded Valley Healthspan in 2024. The goal of his practice is to use a personalized approach to treat and prevent chronic diseases, with the ultimate goal of helping patients optimize their quality of life and vitality as they age. Dr. Olson originally specialized in Pediatric Endocrinology, graduating from medical school at the University of Arizona and completing his fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern. He has received multiple NIH-funded research grants, has co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications, and continues his research work as an Adjunct Professor in the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Arizona State University.

Dr. Olson’s journey into Functional/Preventive Medicine was sparked by his mother, Cory Olson, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in her early 60’s and eventually passed away at the age of 70. Through this journey she was discovered to be homozygous for the APOE4 gene, a gene famous for its connection with Alzheimer’s disease. Knowing that his own genetic risk was higher, Dr. Olson became immersed in Functional Medicine and the importance of hormone optimization for enhancing physical and cognitive health.
