Course Description

Elevate your practice with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

This is an immersive three-day training that covers the essential science, clinical strategies, and business practices needed to confidently offer BHRT to your patients.  This course is not just about how (to do this) it’s also about the why.  Understand how hormones work and science that supports your patient care decisions. You will learn the truth behind BHRT myths and controversies; how hormone deficiencies contribute to disease; safe and effective prescribing for testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, thyroid, and DHEA,  and Melatonin.  We will teach practical approaches to lab testing, billing, and documentation and present real-world case reviews to prepare you for success.

This course blends expert lectures, cutting-edge research, interactive quizzes, and hands-on case discussions to leave you confident, prepared, and inspired to help your patients optimize health.

  • Describe the historical evolution and scientific foundation of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), including common misconceptions and the interpretation of landmark studies.
  • Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of hormone imbalance and articulate how disruptions in hormone production, resistance, and feedback loops contribute to clinical disease.
  • Differentiate between testosterone therapy protocols for men and women, including indications, dosing, administration routes, safety concerns, and outcome monitoring.

  • Design individualized treatment strategies for thyroid hormone replacement in men and women, utilizing clinical guidelines and patient-specific factors.
  • Integrate the use of adjunctive hormones (DHEA, pregnenolone, melatonin) into personalized BHRT plans, with attention to clinical indications, safety, and appropriate dosing.
  • Demonstrate effective clinical implementation of BHRT, including lab testing protocols (serum vs. saliva), interpretation of hormone panels, documentation, and billing practices.
  • Apply evidence-based decision-making to the management of complex hormone therapy cases, using interactive case reviews to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic skills.

FAQ

Yes-this course is comprehensive in its literature review and designed to provide the tools necessary to get started as soon as you return to your practice. This includes information related to panels, and lab set up, legal information, documentation and case studies that help you get started.

This series is designed for MD, DO, PA, NP, ND, Pharmacists, health coaches, chiropractors, nutritionists and dieticians, practice administrators and support staff.

This course will provide recommended starting protocols, dosing, monitoring adjusting, delivery methods, indications, contraindications, treatment goals. BHRT is highly customized to fit the needs of individual patients, and you will be equipped with background research, information and support to make decisions that are best for your patients.

This first course for BHRT covers pre, peri, post menopause and andropause. It includes an extensive review of the health benefits, myths and controversies surrounding BHRT. Hormones covered include estrogen, progesterone, testosterone for men, testosterone for women, thyroid, DHEA and melatonin. This course also reviews the literature support for BHRT and its ability to support chronic disease management including osteoporosis, CVD, some cancers, metabolic function and inflammation.

The series is designed to build on information.  We highly suggest you attend BHRT Foundations and BHRT Complexities first, after that the order is less important.  Each course lays a foundation that builds on prior knowledge learned at previous courses.  For example, in BHRT Foundations you learn all about how to prescribe, monitor and adjust BHRT. In BHRT Complexities, we do a deep dive in areas like endocrine disruptors, we look at fertility, PMOS (formerly PCOS) in all ages, cancer and hormones, hair loss and sexual dysfunction. These areas are all important but dependent on a foundation knowledge of BHRT. To provide more comprehensive care options for patients we highly recommend taking BHRT Complexities immediately after you attend BHRT Foundations. It will be frustrating when you start getting questions related to any of the topics covered in BHRT Complexities and you have not taken this course yet.

We do not recommend billing insurance for this kind of treatment.  In some cases, we are optimizing health and recommending BHRT for reasons outside the standard of care.  There are no diagnoses that support this treatment.  Our recommendation is to establish a cash/subscription/concierge model where you can dictate the amount of time spent with a patient and customize treatment to meet a patient's individual needs.  We also provide support finding employment with a provider that already practices this kind of medicine.

We host a provider exclusive community for clinical and business support as you get started practicing. This includes clinical case support and online events to help providers as they get started seeing patients.

To complete the certification exam you must have completed the entire Optimal Medicine Series.
